Mojo CD Christmas Card

Every year one of my Christmas presents to my husband Owen is a subscription to the music magazine Mojo.  Every issue of the magazine comes with a free CD and back in 2005 a 'Blue Christmas' CD was the free offering.  A few years ago Owen had a clear out of a few CDs and the 'Blue Christmas' CD ended up in the discard pile.  I thought I'd be able to use the CD one day for a Christmas card so I saved it in my stash.  I found it a couple of weeks ago and decided that I would use the CD this year for Owen's Christmas card.

I love that the CD looks like a vinyl record!  I made a 5 3/4" square Basic Black card base and added a layer of patterned paper from the SU! 'Merry Music' DSP pack.  I die cut a large white CS circle, adhered that to the card front and popped the CD up on Dimensionals.  I then added some die cut snowflakes to the CD.

Here's the inside of the card.  I applied glue to the centres of the white snowflakes only so I could get some dimension.

I used the same pattern DSP to make an envelope with the Envelope Punch Board but chose the white and black colourway rather than the black and white.  I die cut a name label and popped that up.  This is one of the quickest cards I've made for Owen - which was just what I needed as I was so behind with my Christmas preparation this year!

December 2017 Card Group Projects

Today I'm finally sharing the two cards made at the December card group meeting - we had such a lovely afternoon!  December is hurtling by - I can't believe it's Christmas in just a few days!

The first card would be very suitable as a masculine birthday card.  I've used a colour combo of Island Indigo, Crushed Curry and Early Espresso.  After stamping and die cutting the feathers I shaped them a wee bit for some dimension and I adhered them to the Crushed Curry patterned paper tag.  I added texture to the strip of Early Espresso CS by using a feathers embossing folder.  I stamped the sentiment, added jute twine to the tag hole and popped the tag up.

Here's the inside and the envelope.

For the second card I used the SU! 'Paint Play' set.  I haven't got anything else like this set and I thought it would be good fun to play with - I love the paint like look of the images and sentiments! For this card I've gone for a colour combo of Berry Burst, Fresh Fig and a splash of zesty Lemon Lime Twist.  I stamped the base of the flowers in Powder Pink ink and stamped the swirl over the top in Berry Burst ink.  I cut out each flower using a circle punch.  I stamped the leaves and used a blender pen and Lemon Lime Twist ink to colour them in.  I popped up the white panel and also one of the flowers.  To complete the card front I added three sequins to the flagged banner.

Here's the inside and the envelope.

I'm taking a break from card group in January, we're getting together again on the first Thursday in February.  I am hoping to get a few days off from work in January and if so I plan on getting productive in my craft room - fingers crossed!  I've not had much crafting time at all recently and I miss it!

Wishing everyone a fun filled, festive Christmas!
