I am so chuffed - this card of mine made it into Dawn's Colour Challenge Spotlight! (The page will open in a new window.) It was my first time taking part in this challenge and I was so surprised - but delighted! What a lovely start to my day today, I did a happy dance round the room!
My friend Jan is coming over tomorrow and she wants to make a faux wood frame masculine Christmas card - so this is what I came up with. I wanted it to look like the frame is hanging on a wall. Hopefully, the stripey paper and vanilla strip give the impression of wallpaper and a picture rail!
The card measures 5" x 7". I made the frame by stamping the woodgrain stamp on Creamy Caramel CS with Creamy Caramel ink and then used square Nesties to get the frame shape. I cut the frame apart by mitreing the corners and then swiped Chocolate Chip ink around all the edges. I cut out a creamy caramel square and glued my frame pieces to that and added the brads to the corners. The robin panel is nestled inside the frame.
I love this English robin stamp, it's by Inkadinkado. I stamped it on watercolour paper and used my SU! Watercolor Wonder crayons to colour it in. I lightly sponged some distress ink on the stamped piece. I've added Stardust Stickles to the branch to add a touch of sparkle. I attached the silver thread by wrapping the ends around two brad prongs. I pierced two holes for the brad hanger and sandwiched the thread between the brad prongs. The frame piece is popped up.
To finish off, I made the sentiment piece. I really like this sentiment from the SU Best Yet set and love that it fits in the plain oval punch! This card will go to our neighbours and friends Kath & Jim.
