The Technique Lovers Challenge TLC242 on Splitcoast Stampers this week was an easel card. I really liked the look of it and decided I'd make one. The colour combo I chose means it fits for this weeks Stamp With Us Colour Challenge too. Here's the inspiration piece:

There's an easel card tutorial here - the page will open in a new window. The tutorial is for a 4" x 4" card but you can make them any size, just adjust your measurements accordingly.
My card measures 5 1/2" square. For the card base, I cut Old Olive CS measuring 11" x 5 1/2" and scored at 2 3/4" and 5 1/2" to form the easel. Then I cut a 5 1/2" square of olive CS for the card front. The patterned papers are Pebbles Inc. 'Snow Fun' and I love that they aren't traditional Christmas colours! I decorated the base with a scalloped border, olive strip and photo corners. My sentiment piece forms the 'stop' that holds the front of the card up. The scalloped oval is popped up so the card front stays in place.
You can't tell from the photo, but my silver snowflake is very sparkly as it's been heat embossed with Stardust embossing powder. Square Nesties were used for my layers. The olive and scalloped squares are both popped up. I've put a Candy Dot in the centre of my snowflake. I tied Old Olive grosgrain around the card front in a knot and I've added 3 punched snowflakes with crystal centres. To finish, I added two more photo corners to the card front.
The easel part folds down flat so it can easily fit in an envelope. I really like this fun easel card design - it's different but simple to do, I shall definitely make more!
Yay, another Christmas card added to the stash!
And here is a side view photo:
