All White Congrats Card - Less Is More White On White Challenge

I didn't get time to take part in last week's Less Is More challenge so I was determined to make a card for today's challenge.  When I checked out the challenge this morning I found it to be white on white - what an interesting challenge!  To me, all white seems to exude elegance and class.  Also, texture seems to become all important.  I really like the different textures this card has even though it's only one colour.  I've used a textured card blank, smooth white vellum, dry embossing and pearls.  The beautiful ribbon has organza edges with a satin middle so that adds quite a bit of contrast and interest too.

To start I made the shaped card blank using a Sizzix die.  I then embossed a piece of thick white vellum with the Elegant Bouquet embossing folder.  I love the look of dry embossing on vellum, the embossing detail gets outlined with white.  I always put a couple of pieces of printer paper in the folder when I emboss vellum as sometimes the design can get cut through if the folder gives a really deep impression.  The addition of the paper prevents that from happening.  I ran a narrow strip of tape along the card to glue the bottom of the vellum down and then covered the adhesive up with the ribbon tied in a knot.  For the top of the vellum, I just put a small glue dot behind each corner and then added punched photo corners to cover them up.  I added some texture by embossing the corners with the Square Lattice folder and then placed a pearl on each flower centre.

I wanted to add a sentiment but I couldn't get it to look right if I placed it on the card front.  So I decided to carry on the white on white theme inside the card and I glued the die cut 'Congrats' inside.  I embossed just the bottom of the card and also the envelope flap with the Elegant Bouquet folder.  I really enjoyed putting this card together, I've only made one white on white card before.  They really are something special and perfect for a celebratory occasion.  I have to say I was so concerned I'd get a mucky mark on the card I kept washing my hands, you really need these creations to stay pristine!

I'm so glad that you take such care to obscure the evidence of attaching your vellum to the card, it makes such a difference to the finished effect.
