It's time for a colour combo challenge at 52 {C}CT this week. A fab colour combo it is too, check it out!
I started off with a cream 5 1/4" square card base and added a piece of patterned paper. I then stamped and die cut 3 ornaments, scored and folded them in half and then glued them together to form the 3D ornament. I love the dimension of the ornament - and it folds flat to go in an envelope too! I adhered the ornament to an Early Espresso die cut Framelits Labels shape - but it's an altered shape. You die cut the label shape as normal but then rotate the die 90 degrees and roll it through your machine again to cut off the rounded edges so you get a squarer shape - such a nifty trick! I die cut a scalloped border from gold glitter CS and glued that to the card. The 'Christmas Cheer' sentiment is on one line of a stamp but I masked
and stamped twice so I could punch the words out with the Word Window
punch and have my greeting on two lines. I punched tiny glitter dots to act as a hanger for my ornament, added more dots to the die cut shape and as I had one left over I dotted the i in Christmas with it! I then added 3 punched glitter snowflakes to finish off the card front.
Inside I added some patterned paper and a gold glitter strip. I stamped a new Merry Christmas sentiment - what an elegant font! I thought the swirly C would be the perfect spot to place another ornament so I added 2 tiny glitter dots and popped an ornament up underneath with thin 3D foam tape. I stamped another ornament for the envelope flap and simply mounted that to a gold glitter circle.
This is a lovely combo so I hope you'll join us this week - that box needs to get filled with Christmas cards you know, we're in October now! The other DT members are sure to inspire you with some fab cards so pay them a visit before you go and get festively inky! Throughout October we have a guest designer, Birgit, who has arranged prizes too!
