It's an embellishment challenge this week at 52 {C}CT - and the embellishment we want to see on your Christmas cards this time is pearls - pretty!
I decided to take the opportunity to use my Perfect Pearls mist and a stencil as it's been a while since I've done that. I laid the stencil onto a piece of black CS, added a bit of tape at the top to keep it in place and spritzed the stencil with 'Perfect Pearl' mist. The tape also acts as a hinge so I can carefully lift up the stencil and then have an 'oooooh' moment when I see the result LOL! I cut the black panel to size and attached it to a square white card base. I then die cut the deer family from the sparkly SU! Champagne Glimmer Paper and I've popped them up. I used a sentiment from a Hero Arts clear set that has dots between the letters of 'MERRY' as I thought they were the perfect place to add some pearl jewels! I die cut the sentiment using an SU! Apothecary Accents die and popped that up over a Champagne Glimmer oval.
Inside I stamped a large sentiment and added 3 sparkly snowflakes. I added pearls to the snowflake centres and to dot the i letters in the words 'Wishing' and 'Christmases'. Oooh look - a leaping deer on the front of the envelope, I've been waiting ages to get this die and I'm happy to say I have it now! To finish off I added a layered label element and added pearls.
I really love the effect the Perfect Pearls mist gives when spritzed through a stencil and it's such a quick, but 'wow' technique to do. It just so happened that I had purchased a new snowflake stencil - I obviously needed to try it out so that means a second card for the challenge! At first I used 'Blue Smoke' Perfect Pearls mist and white CS but I didn't like how that looked. So I then went back to using the 'Perfect Pearl' mist and I spritzed onto Night of Navy CS - much better! The stencil has a frame in the centre but I covered that up and I popped up a snowflake die cut from silver mirror card. Yes, a new snowflake stencil and a new snowflake die set - I am a complete shocker when it comes to snowflakes, I love them and find them hard to resist! I am fussy and finicky though, not just ANY snowflakes will do, they must be a pretty shape and preferably only have six 'arms' - eight is just plain wrong LOL! I added a large pearl to the centre of the silver snowflake and smaller pearls to the background snowflakes. A layered banner sentiment finished off the card front.
Another thing I find hard to resist is anything swirly or flourishy - like the SU Baroque Border wheel stamp that I've used on the inside. The Penny Black sentiment is one of my all time faves - of course, it has snowflakes on it!
I die cut a Night of Navy snowflake, glued it to a silver mirror CS circle and popped that up over a stamped swirl on the front of the envelope.
Please check out what the other Design Team members have made, there's sure to be something to inspire you! I look forward to popping by your blogs to see what you create for our pearls challenge!
