Happy Birthday Mynnette! * Blog Hop *

Today is the marvellous Mynnette's birthday and a blog hop has been arranged in her honour.  Happy Birthday Mynnette, I hope you enjoy your surprise blog hop and have a wonderful day!  If you are hopping along you came here from the very sweet Sandie's London Days blog, welcome!

To celebrate we have birthday cards for Mynnette and we also have blog candy on offer!  In order to have a chance to win, you need to visit each blog and leave a comment on each one, including this one. You will have until 5:00 PM EST on Thursday May 16th to leave your comment. One of the sites will be randomly chosen and we will randomly choose a winner from the comments on that site, using Random.org. The winner will be posted Friday May 17th!

Our instructions were to go to Mynnette's blog, choose one of her cards to CASE and then make our version into a birthday card.  Sounds all fine and dandy doesn't it, nice and easy?  Have you ANY idea how many fabulous creations are on Mynnette's blog to choose from?!  I spent hours - happy hours I must say! - at On a Stampage.  I set up a secret board on Pinterest and as I came across CASE candidate cards I pinned.  I kept pinning, then I narrowed it down and I finally chose this beautiful card to CASE.

Here is my version.  I stayed pretty faithful to Mynnette's card, I just changed the colours and used a doily in place of the scalloped circles.

To make the flower and leaves I did some 'messy work' as my friend Jan calls it.  For messy work I place my craft mat on my desk, pat ink pads on it, spritz the mat with water and then smoosh a piece of CS around until the piece is covered.  I dry the piece with a heat tool, stamp the images and fussy cut them.  For the flower I used Pretty in Pink, Regal Rose and Melon Mambo inks and for the leaves I used Pear Pizzazz and Old Olive inks.  It's such a satisfying, fun technique but you do get very inky hands!

I punched a circle of Old Olive dotty paper to go inside a builder brad to embellish my flower centre.  After I'd stamped the sentiment I wished I'd used two different colours so I then stamped it again on a separate piece of CS in Old Olive ink, cut out the words and glued them over the top.   I popped up the doily and the flower and added the Mynnette signature bling!

Here's the inside.

Here's the front of the envelope.

Your next stop on the blog hop is Yvonne's blog Journey Into Artistry.  Happy hopping - don't forget to leave comments as you hop to be in with a chance of winning the blog candy!

  9. I clearly see the link between yours and Mynnette's card. Although the design is very similar the cards look very different - it's amazing the effect colors have on a card! When it comes to voting for which is the most beautiful one.... It's a tie!!!
