Happiest Wishes Birthday Card - House Of Cards Month One Cute & Fun Challenge

Woohoo, it's time for the first ever challenge at House of Cards - how exciting!  House of Cards is the brainchild of Mynnette and she very sweetly asked me to be a co-owner alongside her. We're kicking off with this luscious colour combo challenge.

This colour challenge runs for the whole month of July - but each week the challenge will feature a different card making style.  For this first week we'd like to see Cute and Fun cards using at least three of the colours from the picture entered into the challenge.   I'll be producing cards along with the Design Teams for the Cute & Fun and Classic & Elegant weeks so here I am with my first House of Cards Cute & Fun card!

I loved this birdie stamp when I first saw it and then when I saw a paper pieced card on display that featured the birdie, that was it - he HAD to come home with me! I've used a 5 1/4" square white card base and I've layered my white panel onto Broken China and Cherry Cobbler mats.  I paper pieced and popped up the bird's body and wing and he's standing in punched grass.  I cut the clouds from  patterned paper, popped most of them up and added some punched hearts to echo the heart shaped wing.  To finish the card front I added some clear jewels and aqua nailheads.

Here's the inside and the envelope with more clouds, hearts and a sweet sentiment!

Mynnette's idea to incorporate different styles into this challenge is fabulous don't you think?!   Maybe you'll be comfortable with the week's featured style and that's wonderful, you'll be raring to join in - but what if you're not comfortable or familiar with the style?  We'd love you to give it a go anyway, we're hoping that we can encourage you to try a new or different card making style to your usual one.  You never know until you try, you just might like it and you'll be adding another crafty string to your bow!  For guidance, we have this Definition of Styles tab on the House of Cards blog which gives a description of each style and there are card examples too.

If you follow the House of Cards blog and Like us on our Facebook page you can enter a draw for a giveaway!  We have one giveaway for the U.S.A. and Canada, one for the U.K. and Europe and a third giveaway for Australia and New Zealand. A fab new challenge to take part in and the chance to win a prize - what are you waiting for?!  Here's a link to the Followers Giveaway page

I know the rest of the Cute & Fun DT will have fab cards to inspire you so please go and check their work out!  We'd love for loads of people to join in with our House of Cards challenges - and I really hope you'll join in with our inaugural challenge!  Everyone is welcome at our House!
