As soon as I saw the layout, the idea of a spinner card came to me. They are definitely fun and it's been far too long since I've made one! I chose fun, bright colours for my card and used a butterfly die to make my spinner element. The butterfly is suspended in the circular aperture using beading wire. After you've written your card, twist the butterfly about 6 times, close the card and place it in the envelope. When the recipient takes the card out of the envelope the butterfly will spin - what a fab and fun surprise!
Here's a close up of the spinner in the aperture.
To make the card I cut the striped paper to size and adhered it to the front of the Melon Mambo A6 card base with repositionable tape. I used a circle Nestie die to cut an aperture in the patterned paper and card front together at the same time. I die cut two butterflies and glued the two shapes together, sandwiching beading wire between the two shapes. I set the striped paper aside whilst I taped the wire to the front of the card so that the butterfly sat within the circle aperture and I adhered the striped paper over the top on to the card front - that way you get a neat finish as the beading wire ends are nicely hidden. I attached the Melon Mambo strip, the Old Olive circular frame and added two Marina Mist buttons plus blue gems. I used a sentiment with a cute and fun font, die cut it using a label die, sponged the edges with Old Olive ink and popped it up. I added blue gems to the butterfly body and the sentiment label to complete the card front.
Here's the inside and the envelope. I cut a white panel for inside the card and glued on a panel of cloudy sky paper to show through the aperture. I added narrow Old Olive CS strips plus a punched butterfly. A die cut butterfly went on the envelope flap and I sprinkled on more blue gems.
I enjoyed myself immensely making this fun card! I hope you'll have fun too and share your Cute and Fun style cards with us at HOC this week. The other Cute and Fun DT members have made fab cards to inspire you so do check them out!
