Two Winter Scene Friendship Tealight Easel Cards

Here I'm sharing two cards made for good friends.  We were supposed to meet up on 22nd December but some of us were very poorly so we're getting together on New Year's Day instead.  I knew I wanted to make tealight easel cards for my friends but rather than using Christmas sentiments I've used friendship sentiments.

I've gone for a crisp navy and white colour combo for the card for Debs and Mike.  I added sparkle to the scene and tied a snowflake charm to the gingham ribbon with some white baker's twine.  I popped up the sentiment rectangle so that acts as the easel stop.

Here's the sentiment panel on the back of the easel card.  These lovely words come from a new SU! set called 'Needle & Thread' which will be available in the 2019 Spring Summer catalogue.  I fell completely in love with the 'Needlepoint Nook' suite, the products are gorgeous!  I added some seasonal snowflakes too.

Here's the card with the battery operated tealight on.

For our friend Gill I've gone for Bermuda Bay and white as I know she absolutely loves that colour.  I've used a different 'Hometown Greetings' Edgelit die, have omitted a sentiment and have used a long die cut border to act as the easel stop.  I still added sparkle and a snowflake charm and ribbon though!  I love making cards similar but changing a few things up!

Here's the panel on the back of the easel card with snowflakes in addition to that lovely sentiment.

A few years back I gave Gill an easel card for Christmas and when I visited her house a few days after Christmas I saw the card draped over a photo frame as she hadn't worked out how to display the card - bless!  I'm not taking any chances with the tealight - I've included an instruction - but anyway, I'll be there so I can set the card up!

Here's the card with the tealight switched on.

As with the other tealight easel cards, I didn't use an envelope, instead I placed each card in a snowflake patterned cello bag together with a battery operated tealight.

I've really enjoyed making these cards this year, I love that they're a bit different with a wow factor but are not difficult to make.  Huge thanks to Kerstin Wagner for sharing and inspiring!

A Dashing Deer Christmas Card & A Winter Scene Christmas Tealight Easel Card

I just can't believe we're at the final day of 2018, this year seems to have passed by in a blur!  I thought I'd post my last two 2018 Christmas card makes today. I'll also post two more cards in a separate post today as they turned into winter friendship cards as opposed to actual Christmas cards!

This card was for my friend Jan and is my CASEd version of the card shown on page 8 of the SU! 2018 Autumn/Winter catalogue.  I couldn't resist adding just a pop of red with some rhinestone jewels!

Here's the inside.

Here's the back of the envelope.

Here's the front of the envelope.

This next card is a winter scene tealight easel card I made for my hubby Owen.  He loves black and white cards so I used that combo for the card.  On my previous tealight easel cards I'd used a circle aperture but I changed to a rectangular aperture and also added a frame.  Some seasonal sparkle was also added with Dazzling Diamonds glitter sprinkled on the scene die cut.  I adhered a strip of ribbon and popped up the sentiment label and the small snowflake so they act as stops for the easel.  I added a few more die cut snowflakes and placed a silver nailhead on the centre of each one.  I got to use a new purchase on this card - the SU! 'Christmas Traditions Punch Box'.  I loved it as soon as I saw it but I didn't love the price!  When I spotted it on the SU! Clearance Rack at 40% off I snapped it up!

Here's a closer look at the scene.

Here's the message panel on the back of the easel card.  The Stamparatus made it easy to get a continuous snowflakes border across the top of my panel!

Because the card was for my hubby I allowed him two battery operated tealights to illuminate the scene!  I'm very pleased to say he loved this card and he's turned the tealights on every evening since the card has been on display!  No envelope for this card as I popped it into a cello bag with the two battery operated tealights.

Set Of Hometown Christmas Easel Tealight Cards

I came across Kerstin Wagner's video showing lovely tealight easel cards made using the SU! 'Hometown Greetings' die set and I fell in love with them.  I decided to CASE Kerstin's design and make tealight easel Christmas cards for my card group ladies.  Huge thanks to Kerstin for sharing and inspiring!

I mixed imperial and metric measurements for my cards - I made my cards from a 4" wide strip of CS (the whole A4 length) and scored at 9 and 18 cms as per Kerstin's instructions.

Here is one card on its own.  A circle aperture is cut out of the card front and a vellum circle is glued behind the aperture.  The vellum is embossed with the SU! 'Softly Falling' embossing folder which gives a fab snowy look.  I popped up the snowflake on the bottom so it acted as a stop for the easel.

Here is a card with the tealight inside and switched on, love that warm glow!

Here's the base of the card where the tealight goes.  I adhered a large die cut snowflake and helpfully wrote the 'place tealight here' instruction on each snowflake!

Here's how I decorated the bottom of the cards using the beautiful SU! 'Snow Is Glistening' stamp set.

Here's a side view of the easel card.

Here's the pile of cards all made.

The cards ended up as not a standard size for an envelope so I decided to place each card inside a snowflake patterned cellophane bag which I decorated with a sparkly silver gift tag and parcel baubles.

Inside each bag I placed a card, a battery operated tealight and a few goodies - a boxed flavoured hot chocolate mix, a Malteser MerryTeaser reindeer chocolate bar, a Ferrero Rocher chocolate and an orange flavoured Lindor chocolate ball.

I'm delighted to say that these went down a storm with my ladies and we'll definitely be making one of these as a card group project next winter!  I'd like to make a couple more for friends this year too but we'll see how that goes!

Supplies:
Stamps: SU! 'Hearts Come Home' & 'Snow Is Glistening' sets
CS: SU! Night of Navy & Whisper White, SU! vellum
Ink: SU! Night of Navy
Tools: SU! Simply Scored, SU! 'Layering Circles' Framelits die set, SU! 'Hometown Greetings' Edgelits die set, SU! 'Snowfall' Thinlits die set, SU! 1/4" circle punch

December 2018 Card Group Projects

Last Thursday we got together for our final card group meeting of 2018, we all wore festive headbands and a very happy afternoon was had by all!  Tinged with some sadness though, as we were missing the lovely Pam who couldn't attend due to ill health.

Because we exchange Secret Santa gifts which takes a bit of time - everyone has to unwrap their gift one at a time! - I only design two simple cards for the December meeting.

Up first is a card made using the SU! 'Wishing You Well' stamp set.  I came across this card made by Brian King and I loved it and just had to CASE it!  I stamped the foliage bunch in Crumb Cake ink,  added subtle shimmer with some Wink of Stella on the open portions, stamped the bow, fussy cut it and added two rhinestone jewels.  I've used the 'Petal Palette' set to create the sentiment label.  After sponging Soft Suede ink around the label using a dauber I popped the label up.

Here's the inside of the card and the envelope flap.

I've had a sneak peek online at the forthcoming SU! 2019 Spring Summer catalogue and one of the stamps reminded me of this oldie but goodie SU! 'Weathered' background stamp.  That led me to revisit a card we'd made previously at card group and use it for inspiration - I couldn't believe I'd made it four years ago!  I've used a different layout and sentiment and changed the colours and it's amazing how that makes such a difference!  This striking colour combo (Elegant Eggplant and So Saffron) is a fave of mine.  The 'Weathered' background stamp looks fab with the IndigoBlu 'Rose Blush' stamp I think.  To complete the card front I punched a So Saffron bitty butterfly and added two pearls.

Here's the inside of the card and the front of the envelope.

Well, four years ago there wasn't a Stamparatus but we were able to use it today to stamp the 'Rose Blush' image on the main image panel, the inside panel and on the envelope.  I have cut a piece of SU! grid paper to fit inside my Stamparatus and I've had it laminated.  Today I used Sharpie pens to add marks to the laminated sheet so my ladies knew where to position each of their pieces in the Stamparatus to get perfect image placement.  Any excess Elegant Eggplant ink was wiped off the laminated sheet with a baby wipe and kitchen paper but the Sharpie pen marks stayed visible for the whole afternoon - it worked really well!

I created tags for our Secret Santa gifts and here they all are.

Here's just one tag.

I'm having a break in January but we'll be crafting together again on the first Thursday in February - I'm looking forward to it already!

Two Poinsettia Cards

A quick post to share two poinsettia cards I made in November using the SU! 'Peaceful Poinsettia' bundle of stamps and dies.  I borrowed these from my very kind friend Jan.

For this card I featured die cuts and I made a vellum and sparkly glimmer paper poinsettia using a  colour combo of Cherry Cobbler and Whisper White.

Here's a closer look at the poinsettia.

Here's the inside of the card and the envelope flap.

For the second card I stamped the images in VersaMark, heat embossed with white embossing powder and watercoloured the images.  The colour combo is Cherry Cobbler, Mossy Meadow, Whisper White and some sparkly gold.

Here's the inside of the card and the envelope flap.

Two Snowflakes Cards

Oh dear, November wasn't a good blogging month, I only managed one post!  I've just popped on to share two snowflake design Christmas cards I made in November.

This card features a square die cut snowflake panel and a crisp dark blue and white colour combo (the blue is SU! Dapper Denim).  A few scattered rhinestone jewels provide some seasonal sparkle.

Here's the inside of the card and the envelope flap.

The next card was definitely more time consuming to create! The colour combo is Mint Macaron, Whisper White and copper and there's lovely texture on this card with a large velvet paper die cut snowflake, some copper heat embossing and copper foil accents.  The card was created with the beautiful SU! Snowflake Showcase products - the 'Snow is Glistening' stamp set and the 'Snowfall' Thinlits die set.

Here's a closer look at the main element.

Here's the card with the front of the envelope.

A definite 'one of a kind' card, I won't be making multiples of that design!

November 2018 Card Group Projects

Today I'm sharing the three cards we made at our November card group meeting - I'm calling it the November meeting although, in fact, we did meet up during the last week of October as I had to run the group a week early!

A little while ago Jan asked if we could revisit a card we'd made before at card group, a card that had a wonky panel and was a birthday card.  It took me a while to get the correct card Jan was referring to but we got there in the end!  It was this card that the ladies made back in January 2017, a lovely design I CASEd from Rachel Tessman.

Jan asked if we could make a Christmas card version of the wonky panel card and I was very happy to design one as my brand new SU! 'Snowfall' Thinlits die set and 'Snow is Glistening' stamp set seemed ideal for this card!  I love snowflake designs so I needed no encouragement to add these products to my stash and they are SO beautiful!  I've used Night of Navy and Balmy Blue together with Whisper White as my colour combo.  After adhering the white snowflake to the Night of Navy solid shape I popped it up and added a small Balmy Blue dot in the centre of the snowflake.

For inside the card I've used a gorgeous snow border stamp from the 'Snow is Glistening' set.  I stamped the image twice to get the border at the top of the white panel - the Stamparatus makes that so easy, the image lines up perfectly! I also stamped the 'blizzard of wishes' sentiment and three of the oh, so pretty snowflakes.

The pretty snowflakes decorate the front of the envelope too.

The last card group Christmas card for this year is this snowman edged card made using the Crafter's Companion Gemini 'Snowman' stamp & dies set.  The set contains one clear stamp and two separate dies to cut out the snowman.  I stamped the snowman on the front of an A6 sized white card base and used just one die to cut out the snowman edge.  I used coloured pencils to colour the snowman.  I embossed a piece of Tim Holtz Fired Brick Core'dinations paper with an embossing folder and rubbed fine sandpaper over the top to bring out the design.  I glued the red panel in place and added some black and white gingham ribbon.  I stamped and die cut the sentiment label, popped that up and added a sweet die cut snowflake with a jewel centre.

Here's the inside of the card.  I stamped a sentiment, added a panel of black CS and finished off with a narrow strip of the Fired Brick Core'dinations paper.

I used a snowflake background stamp to decorate the front of the envelope.  After stamping I drew a line with a ruler and a black Sharpie marker.

The non Christmas card project is this 'Just a Note' card made using the fabulous SU! 'Rooted in Nature' stamp set and matching 'Nature's Roots' Framelits dies.  I wanted to use some patterned paper from the SU! 'Wood Textures' 6" x 6" DSP pack but I didn't have enough of the same pattern for everyone.  I remembered that I had a sample of some wood effect wallpaper from Wilko so I tried using that - it worked a treat and I had plenty!

I inked the tree in Mossy Meadow ink and inked the trunk using a Soft Suede marker.  I cut the partial image out using a Layering Squares die and I added some Crumb Cake ink with a sponge dauber as a ground.  I matted the wood wallpaper strip onto a layer of Mossy Meadow CS and matted the tree panel to a square of Blackberry Bliss CS.  I stamped two small skeleton leaves in stamped off once Blackberry Bliss ink and stamped a large skeleton leaf in stamped off once Mossy Meadow ink.  I was chuffed to find that the 'Just a Note' sentiment fitted perfectly on the large leaf!  I embossed a piece of Copper Foil Sheet with a detailed leaf die and then cut out the shape using a leaf outline die.  I arranged my cluster of leaves, popping them all up.

Here's the inside of the card and the envelope flap, decorated with more of those beautiful skeleton leaves.

2018 seems to have just rocketed by, I can't believe we only have one more meeting left this year!
