August 2011 Card Group Projects

These are the three square cards we made at card group yesterday.  From September onwards it will be Christmas cards!  We started off by making a card with my much loved Three Ferns stamp.  We inked the stamp completely using a Shabby Shutters ink pad and then applied Peeled Paint and Chocolate Chip inks by randomly sponging on the stamp with daubers.  After inking we spritzed the stamp a few times with water and stamped onto SU! Confetti White CS.  We then stamped the Weathered background using Antique Linen ink and sponged the edges.  After matting the image and stamping the sentiment it was onto the flower.  We stamped the flower onto deep pink dotty paper, sponged the edges with Regal Rose ink and cut it out, making sure to cut between the petals.  We applied glue to the centre so that was stuck flat to the card but we put 3d foam pads under the petals to pop them up.

Card two was made using the SU! Garden Collage stamp set and a Kaleidocolor Blue Breeze ink pad.  I've not used one of these spectrum ink pads for years and I'd forgotten how fun they are to use and the multicoloured images turned out so pretty!  We started off by embossing the white card base with my new embossing folder - I fell in love with this Craft Concepts Butterfly Kisses folder and it just leapt into my basket at the Glitter Pot!  Then the image was stamped - I find it best to position the stamp at an angle on a spectrum pad and give the stamp a little twist, that way you don't get straight bands of colour on the image.  The sentiment was also stamped with the Blue Breeze ink pad.  We matted the image onto a piece of Core'dinations Broken China CS, added silver nailheads to the corners, blue gems to the butterfly body and popped the panel up.  We then stamped the sweet bird image from the set onto the front of the envelope.

The last card features a two-step floral stamp set - yet another one from my collection!  This time we used the SU! Hydrangea set.  We stamped the French Script background on the white panel using Antique Linen ink, sponged the edges and added the sentiment.  The flower and leaves were stamped separately and cut out.  The solid flower was stamped in Bashful Blue ink and the outline in Adirondack Stonewashed ink - a winning combo for a hydrangea flower!  For the leaves we used Pear Pizzazz and Wild Wasabi.    The flower and leaves are popped up.  We added dots of shimmer to the flowers using a Sakura silver metallic pen.

We also stamped the envelope and inside the card.

  1. Lovely cards Ruth - I'm coming up to retirement and can't wait to have all the time in the world to play, then maybe I'll achieve something like this!
    Thanks,
