Sparkly Butterfly Altered Tin Gift Packaging

What a wet and grey day it is - but I'm smiling and happy anyway 'cos it's my birthday and I've had beautiful cards, lovely gifts and some new crafty goodies to play with! : )   My friend Gill took me out for lunch, my friend and neighbour Kath made a chocolate cake for me and our friends Debs and Mike are coming round later on.

A few weeks ago I bought Debs and Mike a "just because" gift of a Honeysuckle and Sweet Pea beautifully scented candle from Waitrose, it smells heavenly!  The candle is in a decorated glass jar and I wanted to present it nicely.  I rummaged in my selection of  "to be altered" items and found a red and white coffee tin which was the perfect size.

Here's a straight on view.

I die cut the solid butterfly from the black CS using a dimensional cutting pad so that the centre of the butterfly didn't cut out and the dotty paper shows through from the back.  I die cut the fancy outline butterfly from red sparkly CS and glued that on top.  I then added the antennae, some gems and some white stitched ribbon.

Here's a side view.

Here's the tin with the decorated lid.  I wrapped the candle in tissue paper and tied some red ribbon around so that the candle could be lifted out of the tin easily

Here's a close up of the butterfly.

This was very well received I'm glad to say!  Maybe - just maybe - I might be spurred on to make more "alterable" projects, I have enough alterable items in my stash that's for sure!
