My New Me Motivation Packet

I recently came across an AlteNew stamp set called 'New Me'.  As a new me is what I'm working towards this set sparked my interest immediately and I purchased the set to make myself something motivational.  I'm following Slimming World in order to lose weight and I've recently joined a Clubbercise exercise class.  There will definitely be a new me in 2018!

There are many other things I'd like to work on too.  I wanted to put a few goals and plans in place and this stamp set was a fun way for me to make up a little new me motivation packet.

So here's my motivation packet made using Old Olive CS and a die cut mini treat bag.  I decorated the front using gorgeous patterned paper from the SU! 'Sweet Soirée' DSP pack and some Marina Mist grosgrain ribbon.  I stamped the words onto a stitched rectangle die cut shape and embellished it with flowers and leaves from the 'Cake Soirée' stamp set, cut out with matching dies and a few clear faceted gems.  I joined six index cards together with ribbon and placed them inside the packet.  I like the fact that I can always add more index cards if I need to.

Here's my inspiring words index card.  I stamped each index card with words and a floral image (from the SU! 'Wood Words' set).

Here's my 'new me goals' index card.

Here's my 'this year I will' index card.

Here's my 'dear self' index card.  There'll be achievements to record along the way and this is where I plan to record my progress - hopefully this will encourage me and spur me on to further success!

Here's my 'things I love about me' index card.  I don't want to focus just on my shortcomings as that could lead to feeling negative and unhappy.  To get a sense of balance I feel it's important to acknowledge some good things about myself too!

Finally, here's my 'things I wish to improve this year' index card.

There are some lovely, encouraging, inspiring people at my Slimming World group and I plan to make a few of these to give out as little gifts.  I'll pop one in to the Slimmer of the Week basket every now and again too.  This will ensure I'll get a fair bit of use out of the 'New Me' stamp set!

Cake Birthday Card & Gift Box

Last Thursday my friend Jan came round for a crafty afternoon.  I took the opportunity of playing with my new 'Sweet Soirée' suite goodies from the SU! 2018 Spring/Summer catalogue to design a project for Jan to make.  Many years ago Jan used to decorate beautiful iced cakes so I thought making a card featuring a tiered cake on an ornate stand would tickle her fancy!  After making the card I decided to decorate a silver mini gable box to match.

The 'Sweet Soirée' Specialty DSP is gorgeous and I chose colours featured in the papers as the combo for the project  - Old Olive, Powder Pink, Calypso Coral and Marina Mist.  When using subtle colours I like to add a pop of dark colour and for this project I added some black.  Here is the card and gift box together.

Here is just the card.  I stamped the cake in Calypso Coral ink onto Powder Pink CS and after die cutting the cake I inked the shape with Powder Pink ink applied with a sponge dauber.  I die cut some greenery and stamped and die cut some Marina Mist flowers - I applied Marina Mist ink to the edges of the flowers using a dauber.  I popped up the cake, the flowers and the sentiment square.  To add a touch of sparkle I added three small rhinestone jewels to the sentiment square.

Here's the inside and the envelope.  I cut the cake from a piece of DSP, adhered it to a Stitched Square die cut shape and popped the square up.

Here's the mini gable gift box.  These boxes are fab, a great size and they're easy to put together - and no adhesive is required!  There's a very pretty tag die in the 'Sweet Cake' Framelits die set and I tied the tag to the box with Whisper White baker's twine after I'd decorated the tag with greenery and flowers.

Jan loved the card and box and we enjoyed a very happy afternoon!  😊

Heartfelt Blooms Thank You Card

A quick post to share a thank you card I made with the SU! 'Heartfelt Blooms' Sale-A-Bration stamp set.  SU! are calling this type of stamp 'Distinktive' and the stamps are designed to lay down the ink at different opacities which gives the finished image more depth.  I was very intrigued to see how this image stamped so this was the first Sale-A-Bration item on my list!

Wow, what a fabulous image, it looks photographic!  I stamped the image three times using Sweet Sugarplum ink, stamped the sentiment in Rich Razzleberry ink, adhered the white panel to a Rich Razzleberry mat layer, added a strip of Rich Razzleberry CS and adhered the whole panel to a Sweet Sugarplum A6 sized card base.  I completed the card front with a couple of faceted gems.

Here's the inside and the envelope. Sometimes making a card using just simple stamping hits the creative spot!
