Happy World Card Making Day!

It's World Card Making Day today and I'm going to be spending quite a bit of time creating in my craft room today - maybe tomorrow too!  I've started off by taking part in this week's Freshly Made Sketch challenge.  Here's the sketch:

I really liked the sketch as soon as I saw it and I thought it would work equally well on a square card so that's what I made.  I used SU! Marina Mist CS to make a 5 3/4" square card.  I embossed the white panel with a snowflakes folder.  As Freshly Made challenges stipulate that they want 'clean' cards (not clean and simple, just clean) I resisted sponging the edges of panels with ink and I've tried to keep to clean lines.  For my tag, I stamped the tree in Night of Navy ink, die cut the rounded tag shape and then glittered the whole tag.  To glitter, I patted my VersaMark pad all over the tag, poured on Heat & Stick powder, heated it until it was sticky, sprinkled on Dazzling Diamonds and gave it a quick blast with my heat gun to set the glitter.  I added a Night of Navy mat and a clip with Marina Mist ribbon tied on in a knot.  Before gluing down the white panel I added three rhinestone brads.  I've added my sentiment to the punched Decorative Label frame so where the sketch suggested a sentiment, I've put the brads instead.  I added thin Night of Navy strips either side of the white panel.  I stamped and punched the sentiment label and popped the tag and label up.

Of course, it wouldn't be a Ruth M card without a stamped inside and envelope! - and here's what I did.  I inked the tree with Night of Navy ink and stamped three times without re-inking.  I stamped a Hero Arts sentiment inside and added a snowflake embossed Marina Mist strip to the bottom of the envelope front.

I'm going to grab a quick bite to eat and then I'll tackle the Swirls & Pearls Simply Stampin' challenge.  Happy stamping everyone, hope you manage to get inky for World Card Making Day!

Marina Mist is one of my very favorite colors! You used it beautifully - and the extra sparkle is lovely!

Such a pretty card! I love your embossed snowflake layer. It's perfect behind the sparkly tree! I love these colors on winter and Christmas themed cards. They might actually make me think fondly of winter! Thanks for joining us at Freshlly Made Sketches!
