Ornament Greetings Of The Season Card - 52 {C}CT Sept Sketch Challenge

How exciting - I'm the hostess for the challenges at 52 {C}CT throughout September!  I hope you'll enjoy making Christmas cards with the challenges I've set as much as I enjoyed designing the challenges!  I'm kicking off September with a sketch challenge for you.  Please feel free to rotate or flip the sketch and use different shapes - it's all fine as long as the basic layout still comes through to us on your completed card!

I rotated the sketch and made a 5" x 7" Cherry Cobbler card base.  I started off by embossing a piece of Very Vanilla CS which I glued to the card base and I stamped and die cut my ornament pieces.  Next I cut an Old Olive CS panel, cut an oval aperture out of it and added a Cherry Cobbler frame around the oval.  I rounded two corners of the panel, added a sentiment strip and a length of Cherry Cobbler ribbon.   I attached the ornament to the olive panel with gold thread and popped up the panel and the ornament.  I threaded gold thread through the buttonholes and attached the button to the ribbon strip.  I punched three Very Vanilla snowflakes to go on the bottom of the panel and I completed the card front by adding some deep red crystals.

Here's a closer view of the aperture and the popped up panel - I love doing this, it adds such dimension!

Here's the inside and the envelope.  I embossed the bottom part of the vanilla panel for inside.  After stamping the sentiment I coloured the holly with inks and a blender pen.  I stamped, die cut and popped up an ornament and made it look like it's suspended from the letter C in Christmas, using red crystals to act as a hanger.  Another popped up bauble went onto the envelope flap to finish off.

Another card that will go into the "special Christmas cards" stash box!

Check out the fab cards the other DT members have created (we have a guest DT member with us throughout September!) and then I really hope you'll play along with us at 52 {C}CT and make a card using the sketch I designed.  I can't wait to visit your blogs to see your festive creations!

Your attention to detail always ends up with fantastic cards, Ruth, and this one is no exception! The embossed panel behind the ornament really shows it off, and I like how you've included the embossing on the inside of the card, too.
