Two Wreath Happy Easter Cards

On Easter Sunday I got together - virtually via a video call - with Lesley and Wendy for a crafty morning.  I made up kits for the projects earlier and I included an Easter card for them both.  Here are the cards and envelopes.

Here is one of the cards.  I CASEd one of Julie Davison's cards as I liked it so much and I love the SU! 'Arrange a Wreath' bundle.  The card base is Blushing Bride and the stitched rectangle layer is Highland Heather.  I stamped the wreath in Soft Sea Foam ink and stamped the eggs in Blushing Bride ink and stamped off once Highland Heather ink.  I popped up three of the eggs on Dimensionals.  I stamped the sentiment in Gorgeous Grape ink.  I die cut the bow from Blushing Bride CS and added a Glitter Enamel Dot to embellish the bow.

I made a pouch envelope for each card using Highland Heather CS.  I embellished with shapes die cut from the SU! 'Messages' die.

Bunny Card & Gift Bag For 'Hoppy Easter' Glitter Pot Class

This afternoon I ran a 'Hoppy Easter' class at the Glitter Pot.  I fell in love with the adorable Woodware 'Hoppy Bunny' stamp as soon as I saw it and was thrilled to be able to feature it in a class at the shop!  I decided a Happy Easter card and a matching gift bag for some treats would be perfect projects for the class and the bunny heads just HAD to be put on wobble springs to ramp up the cute factor!  I enjoyed making these SO much - I knew I found the bunny totally appealing but I'm a tad concerned about how much I ended up loving the carrots LOL!

So here's the card and gift bag together.  After taking the photographs I decided to change the brads on the bag handle from round ones to sweet flower shaped ones!

The bunny was stamped four times (for two complete bunnies and two bunny heads) and fussy cut.  The whole bunny had to have surgery - the ears and part of the face were chopped off  (I know, so cruel!) so that those parts weren't visible when the head was wobbled on the spring.  I used ProMarkers to add some colour to the bunnies and to colour the carrots.  The bunny bodies are popped up on foam pads and then the heads were attached over the top with wobble action springs. 

Here's just the card on its own.   I glued one carrot flat and popped up the other two.

Here's the gift bag.  I used the We R Memory Keepers Gift Bag Punch Board to make the bag - but I altered the design a bit.  The punch board allows you to make a gusseted bag but I wanted a straight sided bag I could add a handle to.  So when I made the bag I omitted the triangle and side score lines on the sides of the bag and ended up with a straight sided bag - and when the handle is attached it's almost a basket.  I LOVE these WRMK Punch Boards and now I love my Gift Bag Punch Board even more now I realise it's got more versatility!  I used Doodlebug 'Dragonfly' CS for the handle and actually glued two strips of card together to make a stronger handle.

The bag was made with Doodlebug Easter Parade 'Darling Daisies' patterned paper and to add strength I cut and scored an inner sleeve made from the 'Dragonfly' card.  I glued the tab on the sleeve and simply slid it inside the bag.  I love that the sleeve not only strengthens the bag, it protects little (or big!) fingers from the brad prongs and it also looks neater!

All the ladies loved their cute bunny cards and bags and we had a very happy afternoon!

Easter Chicks Card In A Box & A Gift Bag

Yuck, I've been poorly the last few days with a tummy upset.  Despite not feeling 100% I was back in my craft room today making a gift bag to accompany an Easter card in a box.  I made the card a few days ago - it evolved as it went along and ended up being quite time consuming but it was a lot of fun to create!  This card is for our friends Jan and Alan.

I absolutely adore the chick from the SU! 'A Good Egg' stamp set, it really is so cute!  The chicks were stamped on watercolour paper and coloured with inks and a water brush.  I paper pieced the eggshells and fussy cut the trio of chicks.  I die cut leafy borders, clouds, butterflies, a banner and then punched grass and flowers and assembled.  The chick at the back and a couple of the clouds are popped up.

This morning I used my Gift Bag Punch Board to make this gift bag to go with the card.  It's filled with Lindor chocolates - yum!  Because my tummy is still not right I didn't even sneak a chocolate for myself!

March 2014 Card Group Projects

It was our card group meeting this afternoon and a happy time was had by all stamping, punching and die cutting!  I designed three cards for the ladies to make, two Easter cards and a birthday card.  I knew that some people wouldn't want to make Easter cards so I designed the two cards so that images and sentiments could be switched out and the ladies could choose which design to make.  I'm very good to them you know!

First up is a cute chick Easter Wishes card.  I used my new SU! Fringe Scissors and Pear Pizzazz CS to make the grass.  I coloured the chick with Daffodil Delight ink and a blender pen, coloured the beak with a Pumpkin Pie marker and paper pieced the eggshell.  After layering the image onto a Daffodil Delight mat I adhered it to a Primrose Petals Top Note die cut shape.  I finished off with a stamped sentiment and some punched flowers with gem centres.

 
Here is the non Easter version where in place of the chick I used a Memory Box Twisty Stalk die cut shape as a flower stem.  I snipped off the bottom of the stem and kept that to one side.  I stamped the sentiment and glued the left over stem piece next to it.  I  punched circles and flowers and added gems to the flower centres to finish off.

After the cute chick card I went for a classy Easter design.  I made a Pool Party A6 card, added the lace border die cut to a panel of Pink Pirouette CS and drew a black line with a Sharpie pen.  I stamped the cherry blossom image onto Pink Pirouette CS, stamped the egg outline over the top, fussy cut it and coloured the flowers with a Regal Rose marker.  I cut a black CS panel, used a decorative punch on each corner and popped up the egg.  I stamped the sentiment and floral element at the bottom of the card.  I punched and shaped three tiny Pool Party flowers and dotted the centres with the black Sharpie pen.  To complete the card front I added some of the waste black dots left over from punching the corners to the lace border.

Here's the non Easter version where instead of the egg I stamped just the cherry blossom image and used oval dies to mat and layer.

For both cards I cut a white panel for inside and stamped the floral element twice.

For the final card I went for an elegant symmetrical design on a 5 1/4" cream square card base.  I stamped the doily in Elegant Eggplant ink onto Very Vanilla CS and layered onto a Wild Wasabi CS mat which I glued to the card front.  I then inked up the flower from the SU! Morning Meadow set with VersaMark ink, stamped it twice, heat embossed each flower with Grape embossing powder and punched them out with the Pansy punch.  I snipped between the petals, shaped the flowers a bit, layered them together and popped them up on the punched circles in the centre of the doily image.  To complete the front I added Elegant Eggplant punched photo corners.

As I didn't put a sentiment on the front I decided to have one inside the card.  I used the fancy frame and birthday sentiment from the Morning Meadow set - plus my trusty Stamp-a-ma-jig!

Z Fold Happy Easter Card & Gable Box

I don't know why but I just wasn't enthused about Easter this year - possibly the very chilly weather hasn't helped.  I mean, here we are the 4th April and I'm watching snow flakes swirling around outside!  I usually make around half a dozen Easter cards but this year it just didn't happen.  I was thinking I might send out springtime wishes cards after Easter but folks I usually get Easter cards from didn't send them out either.  So now I don't feel quite so bad!  I must admit my Easter was pretty miserable 'cos I was battling a throat infection and felt awful.  I'm not feeling all that much better yet and I think a second trip to the doctor's may be in order.  I didn't even eat any chocolate - although ice cream has been a soothing treat now and again!

I did manage to make a card and a gift box for Jan and Alan though.  I pinned this card by Dawn Olchefske to Pinterest ages ago.  It features the faux mother of pearl technique and I thought I'd like to give it a go.  I bought the Frost White shimmer paint in preparation months ago but it's only just recently that I got around to trying it out.  I cut a piece of Whisper White CS, scrunched up some cling film and dabbed on the shimmer paint.  Once that was dry, I sponged Baja Breeze over the panel and stamped the cherry blossom image using black StazOn ink.  I used inks and a blender pen to colour the image.  I stamped the sentiment, cut the panel to the size I wanted and layered it onto a narrow black mat.  I then layered onto Lucky Limeade and Pretty in Pink mats and added the pink pearls.  I made a 5 3/4" square Z fold card using Baja Breeze CS and I adhered the image panel.

I glued white CS to the inside, stamped the cherry blossom a few times and sponged the edges with Baja Breeze ink.  I know Jan loves the little girl silhouette image so I had to include her too! Then I stamped and punched the sentiment oval element.

For the envelope flap I stamped and fussy cut eggs and layered onto circles.

I really like the Natural Composition DSP to make these gable boxes so I used that - even though it doesn't match the card I made, I'm sure Jan and Alan will let me off!  You can find instructions on how to make these gable boxes using the SU! Scallop Envelope die on Jenni's blog here.  I die cut a rosette flower and some leaves and added a Designer Builder Brad in the centre of the rosette.  I stamped the cherry blossom image using Daffodil Delight ink onto the Apothecary Accents label, stamped the sentiment and tied it to the Daffodil Delight ribbon bow.

A side view of the box.  Hmmm, so what was nestled inside the tissue paper inside the box?  There were lots of Lindor mini eggs, two mini Lindt Easter bunnies and two Lindt carrots.

Bunny Happy Easter Card - Inkspirational Challenge #11

It's time for my end of the week encouragement post for the Inkspirational March Photo challenge.  If you haven't taken part already just look at the photo we have for you - surely you can't resist joining us to make a project based on that sweet photo?!

The details from the photo that I chose to feature on my Easter card are the bunny, purple flowers and daisies.  A little while ago I discovered some long forgotten QuicKutz dies in my stash, among them was the Peek-a-Boo Bunny die.  I die cut all the parts, inked the edges to add a wee bit of definition, die cut the pink square, stamped the sentiment and inked the edges.  I then assembled the bunny holding his sign, popping up the head, paws and feet.  I made a 5 1/4" square Barely Banana card base and added two strips of ribbon.  I die cut Wild Wasabi, Pretty in Pink and Creamy Caramel ovals and popped up the bunny.  Out came the flower punches, leaf dies and springy yellow pearls for the flower centres.  I inked the edges of the white daisies with Pretty in Pink ink and shaped the flowers before gluing them to the card.   

Here's the inside and the envelope.  I stamped the image onto watercolour paper, cut it out, used inks and a blender pen to colour and glued the completed image to the Whisper White CS panel inside the card.

Easter Blossoms Z Fold Card

This week at the Simply Stampin' blog we have an Easter theme challenge.  I really hope you'll play along with us this week, I love coming to check out what you've made!  I used the Easter Blossoms set to make a Z fold card.  I started off with a piece of Pretty in Pink CS cut to 24 x 12 cms and I scored it at 12 and 6 cms to make the Z fold card.  I stamped the cherry blossom image a few times on the front panel with Pretty in Pink ink and I glued a square of gorgeous Pool Party patterned paper from the Spice Cake pack to the back panel of the card.  I stamped the blossoms and the little girl onto Very Vanilla CS with Soft Suede ink and used markers to colour in the blossoms and the eggs in the basket.  I sponged Pool Party ink around the whole vanilla panel.  I tore a strip of Pear Pizzazz CS and sponged the edges with Pear Pizzazz ink to act as grass.  I punched a few flowers using the Boho Blossoms punch, sponged the edges with Pretty in Pink ink, added some shaping and popped rhinestone jewels in the flower centres.  My Very Vanilla ribbon got lost and looked blah so I cut a strip of Soft Suede CS to go behind the ribbon to make it stand out more.

I cut a Very Vanilla panel for inside the card, stamped some blossoms and the sentiment and sponged the edges with Pool Party ink.

More lovely blossoms were stamped on the front of the envelope and I added a stamped, punched frame where I wrote the recipient's name.  This card winged its way to Kelly, my friend and fellow DT member, a few days ago.  I hope she liked receiving the card as much as I liked making it!  I love the Easter Blossoms set and I love pink, Pool Party and Soft Suede as a colour combo so this was a very happy project for me!

Speaking of happy - today is my birthday which means I finally get my mitts on my new SU! goodies.  Owen bought them for me last month and it's been torture knowing they've been in the house somewhere these past few weeks, it's been killing me!  A week or so ago I asked Owen if my gifts weren't wrapped yet could I just use the Blossom Party die for 2 minutes to cut a few flowers out as I really, really wanted to use them for a project - no amount of wheedling would get him to produce the die though LOL!  So some pressies, some crafting and then out for a curry with good friends tonight - that sounds to me like a day jam packed with happy!  Whatever you're up to this Easter weekend, I hope you'll be happy too!

Two Easter Easel Cards

I do love easel cards and here are two more I've made for Easter.  First up was made with the cute chickie stamp again.  I used Crumb Cake CS for the base cut at 24 x 12 cms and scored at 6 and 12 cms.  I stamped a background using the Forever Flowers wheel inked with Soft Suede ink.  I chose some patterned papers from the luscious Spice Cake pack, paper pieced the eggshell and put a patterned panel on the bottom.  I coloured the chick with markers and a wet paintbrush and tore Pear Pizzazz CS as grass for him to stand on.  I've added some Pool Party itty bitty flowers with jewel centres.  I popped up the sentiment oval after tying some ribbon around the card.  To finish off the front I punched Pool Party photo corners and added metal nailheads to them.

I bought the A Good Egg set a few months ago thinking I wouldn't buy any more Easter stamps this year - but then I fell in love with the Easter Blossoms set in the mini catalogue and just had to buy that set too!  I got to combine the two sets for this card.  I used Pink Pirouette CS for the base, again cut to 24 x 12 cms and scored at 6 and 12 cms.  I first stamped the egg outline onto Pink Pirouette CS, then stamped the cherry blossoms and cut the egg out.  I coloured the blossoms with markers and sponged the edges of the egg.  I went in with a white gel pen to colour the centres of the blossoms.  I've used Nestie Labels Four dies for matting and layering and the egg is popped up.  The sentiment is popped up to act as the easel stop.  More photo corners and metal nailheads on the bottom piece.  I then punched some Pool Party cherry blossom shapes, sponged the edges with Pool Party ink, shaped them a wee bit and added jewel centres.

Here's the bottom of the card and the envelope.  I debated masking but then stamped the eggs on a separate piece of CS, cut them out and glued them to the card.  To finish off I coloured the blossoms on the envelope with markers.

A Clutch Of Chickie Easter Scalloped Circle Cards

I've always loved the cute little chickie in the A Good Egg set but I didn't buy the set while it was current, I waited to get a retired bargain from eBay!  While I had chickie out and inked up I decided to make a few cards so I made 4 identical cards.  I love shaped cards and I went for a scalloped circle shape using my largest Nestie die.  My colour combo is Pool Party and Daffodil Delight with a touch of black.  I stamped on watercolour paper and coloured the chicks with markers and a wet paintbrush.  I paper pieced the eggshell with some patterned paper and used the same paper for the envelope flap.  I punched the sentiment out with the Modern Label punch and attached it with a black brad.

Here are my 4 chickie cards all together.  There's something so satisfying in seeing a group of identical cards, perhaps I should do it more often!
