Upsy Daisy Thinking Of You Hybrid Card

My Digital Studio (MDS) is digital crafting software from Stampin' Up!  I didn't think I would be excited about MDS as I don't scrapbook, don't use many digi images and am a confirmed rubber and ink stamper.  However, SU! give you the opportunity to try MDS free for 30 days so I thought I may as well download the free trial software, have a play and see what I thought.  It wasn't very long at all before I downloaded the full version so that tells you what I thought - I LOVE it!  It's easy to use, very intuitive so you're up and running in no time and it's so much fun!  I'll mainly be using MDS in conjunction with my ink and rubber to create hybrid cards, I know I won't be a total convert to digital!

So after downloading the software and having a play I decided to see what content was available for purchase.  The software comes packed with loads of stuff anyway but I wanted to see what else was available as brush stamps.  Oh my giddy aunt, SO many to select from - but as soon as I saw the Upsy Daisy set I knew I'd have to get that.  I've always loved the silhouette image in the Upsy Daisy set but SU! didn't sell the set here in the UK and I didn't ever find it on eBay at a price I was happy to pay.  I was SO happy to pay just £1.50 to get the digital version of the set!  I don't want to go mad buying lots of digital downloads but I did also buy the Bunch of Background digital stamp set.  So I set about using my new digital purchases straight away to make this card - instant gratification, no waiting for a delivery to arrive!

I started off by making the daisies silhouette larger and coloured it Early Espresso.  I then added the Sanded background stamp over the top in Crumb Cake ink but I reduced the opacity to make it paler.  Oooh, that sounds technical - all I did was move a slider button - easy!  I added a sentiment that was included in the software package, resized it and coloured it Baked Brown Sugar.  I printed my digital panel off and then got inky with the real thing!  I sponged So Saffron, More Mustard and Calypso Coral inks over the panel and edged it with Baked Brown Sugar ink.  I layered the panel onto an Early Espresso mat, added some hemp cord and attached it to the front of an A6 Crumb Cake card base.  I then added a patterned paper corner and some buttons to complete the card front.

Here's a closer view so you can see the Sanded background better.  I'm chuffed to bits that I've got a collection of background stamps available to me and they're not taking up any room in my stamp drawers!

I used patterned paper to decorate the inside and the envelope flap.

Having options is always a good thing and I'm happy to have the option of combining SU! digital goodies with my real crafty goodies!

This is one of my favourite SU stamps. I couldn't get the original version either (have the one in the 25th anniversary set). I haven't tried MDS, but i think I might have to. Love your card and the dimension with the buttons too.
