Holly Perch Merry Christmas Card - 52 {C}CT July Colour Challenge

We have a colour combo challenge for you this week at 52 {C}CT, Patricia has chosen this lovely traditional combo!

I thought these colours were perfect to use with my Holly Perch stamp. I made a side opening A6 landscape card from Cherry Cobbler CS.  I stamped the image onto watercolour paper using VersaMark, heat embossed with Early Espresso embossing powder and used inks and a water brush to colour the image.  Watercolour paper is usually more cream than white but I sponged some Antique Linen ink onto the panel to make it a bit more creamy.  I layered the panel onto Garden Green and Early Espresso mats.  I stamped a separate image so that I could pop up the bird and the ornament and I popped up the sentiment too.  I punched snowflakes and added jewels to the centres and I added a jewel to the ornament too.  I used Cherry Cobbler Dazzling Details to glitter the holly berries.

For the inside I stamped part of the image onto a Very Vanilla panel and coloured with inks and a blender pen.  I wanted my sentiment to have two colours and I usually use markers to achieve that but I'd chosen a clear stamp and markers don't work well with clear stamps.  So I stamped the sentiment twice and cut out the Cherry Cobbler words and glued them over the top after sponging the edges with Cherry Cobbler ink.  I stamped, coloured and cut out an ornament for the envelope flap.

I made this on one of the hottest days of our summer so far - it might seem odd to make Christmas cards in July but I know come November I will be SO glad I built up my stash throughout the year!  I hope you'll play along with us this week at 52 {C}CT and add a Christmas card to your own stash.  The other DT members have made fab cards to inspire you so please check them out before you go off and get creative!
