Emboss Resist Snowflake Circle Card - 52 {C}CT Sept Technique Challenge

September seems to have flown by, I can't believe it's time for my last September challenge at 52 {C}CT!  In the 4th week of the month we have a technique or embellishment challenge for you and I've selected one of my fave techniques for you - Emboss Resist!  This technique is when you ink a stamp with VersaMark or clear embossing ink, heat emboss the image with embossing powder, add colour by sponging inks over the image and buff the piece with kitchen towel.  The heat embossed image will resist the ink and pop out from the coloured background.  An "ooooooh" moment guaranteed!

I thought the large snowflake from the SU! Festive Flurry set would be perfect to use with this technique - and I was not disappointed, I definitely had a good "ooooooh" moment!  I inked the stamp with VersaMark and heat embossed the image with white embossing powder.  I then got very inky fingers by applying Tumbled Glass, Evergreen Bough and Peacock Feathers Distress Inks over the image.  I'd stamped and sponged onto really thick white CS which caused a problem when I came to cut out the circle with my Circle Scissor tool.  I didn't quite get a clean cut because of the thick CS so I used my edge distresser tool to roughen up the edges of the circle.  I layered onto Midnight Muse and Bermuda Bay circular mats before gluing those to a 5 3/4" Pool Party circle shaped card.   I added a Midnight Muse ribbon bow to the top of the snowflake and added a Midnight Muse punched 1" circle to the snowflake centre.  A gorgeous SU! Frosted Finishes embellishment placed on the Midnight Muse circle completed the card front.

I stamped a sentiment inside with Bermuda Bay ink.  This elegant snowflake adorned sentiment is perfect for a snowflake themed card!

Here's the envelope flap with a stamped and die cut snowflake.  Bermuda Bay and Midnight Muse are fabulous together!

The shaped card plus the use of the Frosted Finishes embellishment can only mean one thing - this card goes into the "special Christmas cards" stash box!

I've loved being the September 52 {C}CT challenge hostess and seeing all the wonderful entries!  I hope you'll join us at 52 {C}CT this week, you know you want to experience an "ooooohhh" moment yourselves LOL!
