Peonies Pivoting Accordion Birthday Card

I've had my 'Accordion Fancy Label' Pop It Ups dies out again to make a pivoting accordion card for Jan's birthday.  Recently I succumbed to temptation and got the Sue Wilson Creative Expressions 'Shaded Peony' stamps and matching 'Perfect Peony Complete Petals' dies so I used those for the first time - they're beautiful!

My starting point for the card was to choose some cheerful, pretty papers and I used a selection from the Penny Black 'Painted Blooms' 6" x 6" pad and opted to make the card base from SU! So Saffron CS.  I got busy stamping, die cutting and daubering and assembled all my elements before gluing and putting the card together.

Here's the first pivoting panel. I layered three stamped and die cut flowers together and popped them up.  I added a sweet Pumpkin Pie flower shaped button to the flower centre.

Here's the central pivoting panel.  I stamped the sentiment in Mossy Meadow ink onto a label fussy cut from a piece of the Painted Blooms paper.  I popped up the label and added some rhinestones to a few of the flowers.

Here's the third pivoting panel with another popped up flower.  This flower has a Rose Red flower shaped button in the centre.

I decorated the back of the pivoting panels.  The back of the first panel is visible when the card is folded flat so I added the pink scalloped edge pieces to that panel to pretty it up a little.

Because I'd popped up elements on all three panels of the card it's quite dimensional and doesn't fit easily inside an envelope.  I used a box envelope and decorated the front panel.  I inked the edges of a whole sheet of the pink butterfly paper with Melon Mambo ink before gluing it to the front of the box.  I fussy cut the double butterflies from a green sheet of the paper and glued those on top of the pink ones, making sure to lift the wings up a bit.  I used the fab 'Invisible Alpha' stamp set from Altenew to stamp the name on the label.  I placed SU! brad bases into the holes of the label, glued a rhinestone to each brad base and popped the label up.

So that's the card Jan will be getting from us and I'm now working on the card that her hubby Alan will be giving her.  That one is quite an elegant little number featuring butterflies.  Stay tuned, it will be appearing here on the blog soon!
