Snowmen & Snowflakes Merry Christmas Card - 52 {C}CT August Sketch Challenge

This week at the 52 {C}CT blog we want you to make a Christmas card using this interesting sketch layout.

I kept fairly faithful to the layout although I did substitute a ribbon strip for the banner element and used snowflakes rather than star shapes.  My card measures 5 3/4" square and my colour combo is Baja Breeze, Riding Hood Red, Basic Black and Whisper White.  I decided to make the square on the right hand side a window and to place the sentiment on the inside of the card.  I glued the black strips to the card front first, then I temporarily adhered the red strip with repositionable tape and punched a 1 3/8" square.  It was a tad tough punching through two layers of CS but it worked!  I then removed the red strip, attached the gingham ribbon and glued the red strip permanently to the card front.  I'm always happy to use a snowman stamp and this little one was the ideal size for the 1 3/8" squares.  I coloured one red and one blue and sponged the edges with contrasting inks.  You can't tell from the photo but I added some glitter glue to the ground under each snowman.  I added six punched white snowflakes with red metal nailheads in the centres to finish off the front.

I added more snowflakes inside along with the sentiment square.  I glued some Baja Breeze patterned paper to the envelope flap and added a snowflake circle element.

I hope you can join us and make a Christmas card using this layout.  It will be great to add another Christmas card to your stash - and if you haven't started your seasonal cards yet, now is the time to start!  Please visit the blog and check out what my DT teamies have made, I hope we inspire you to play along!
