Dare to Get Dirty - Sheer Butterfly Birthday Wishes

As soon as I saw Krystie Lee's Clearly Creative DTGD challenge I knew I had the perfect item in my stash to use! You had to use something transparent, clear or sheer. I bought a pack of Craftwork Cards Sheer Delights months ago and have never used one - shame on me! The pack contains sheer acetate birds and butterflies. In addition to using a sheer butterfly I decided to use other neglected items from my Craftwork Cards stash - love that yummy Marshmallow and Cappuccino colour combo!

This card also fit the Flap Your Wings challenge (to use winged things) and the Tie One On! challenge (to use ribbon) so I was able to combine three challenges with this card.

I stamped the flourish stamp on the butterfly using white StazOn ink and then I scored lines either side of the butterfly body so I could bend the wings up a bit. It's always challenging working with acetate items, especially when it comes to attaching them to cards and I decided to tie the butterfly on with ribbon. I punched two holes both in the butterfly body and the Cappuccino scalloped square and then tied the butterfly on with pink grosgrain ribbon tied in a bow. I added some pink Swarovski crystals randomly on the wings 'cos you know I love sparkle!

I made the card by using two Craftwork Cards scalloped squares. I embossed the front square with the Sizzix 'Butterfly Dance' Texture Plate. I like to use these when the Cuttlebug folders are too small but the impression isn't as deep. Before I embossed I added a shim to my Big Shot sandwich and spritzed the CS with water and that seemed to help give a better impression. I then scored a vertical line on the back square and glued that piece to the front square and voila, the card stands up for display.

The corner accents are Craftwork Cards Candy Dots and the sentiment is a CC Birthday Message Circle which I offset on a punched circle shape. The Cappuccino panel and the sentiment circle are both popped up.

Well, that's it for today, I'll tackle more DTGD challenges tomorrow. Hope you're enjoying the weekend as much as I am!

Well look at you combining so many challenges. I love the look of this card. The color combo is my favorite. Great job Ruth. I did one card and got too stressed out so I may have to revisit it...
