Trio of Bird Cards - December 2010 Card Group Projects

It was our December card group meeting yesterday.  We were supposed to meet at the beginning of the month but the snow put paid to that.  It was then a bit of a struggle to get everybody together later in the month but we got there in the end!  I was so glad everyone could make it.  We had such a great afternoon creating cards, eating goodies and swapping Secret Santa gifts!

I went for winter themed bird general purpose cards that could be used for a variety of occasions.  I took a variety of sentiments so the ladies could choose what they wanted.  The first card uses the gorgeous owl stamp from the Inkadinkado Winter Birds set.  The frame was stamped first in Creamy Caramel ink, then the owl in VersaFine Vintage Sepia and then the shape was cut with a Labels Four Nestie die.  The owl was popped up over a Creamy Caramel strip that had been embossed with a swirly snow embossing folder.  A sentiment and Chocolate Chip ribbon and the card was done.

The second card is a window card made with a Sizzix Movers and Shapers die.  The bird was stamped on Bashful Blue CS in Sepia ink, cut out with a square Nestie die and layered behind the window.  SU! oval punches were used for the sentiment.  A strip of Core'dinations CS was embossed with the Birds and Swirls embossing folder and then scuffed with ultrafine sandpaper.  The card was finished off with a Bashful Blue strip.

The last card is a 4" square card with another gorgeous bird image from the Winter Birds set.  The bird was stamped in the corner, die cut with a square Nestie die and layered onto a black scalloped Nestie square shape.  Ranger Matte Accents was applied to the punched snowflake and then Diamond Dust chunky glass glitter was sprinkled on to make the frosty snowflake.  A strip of ribbon and a brad finished the card front.

Then the inside was decorated with a snowflake border stamp and a sentiment on a white Nestie square shape.

Very simple cards for the group this month, I may have to come up with something more challenging for January!
