Whimsical Bird Birthday Wishes

This card came about because of a conversation with my crafty friend Jan about the SU! colour Early Espresso.  I bought the CS and ink and I love it, so rich and deep.  Jan only bought the ink, saying as she didn't make that many masculine cards she probably wouldn't use the CS.  I took pains to assure her that Early Espresso could work very well for feminine cards too - so I was asked to prove it!

The square card was made with Pretty in Pink CS.  I took the opportunity to ink up another of my neglected SU! sets, Whimsical Wings this time.  I stamped the bird twice and cut one out.  I later stamped another bird in Crumb Cake ink and cut out the wing.  I embossed the Espresso panel with the Ellison 'Squares' texture plate.  I sponged Chocolate Chip ink around the white panel and this was popped up over the Espresso and Rose Red layers after I'd added some Pear Pizzazz ribbon.  I added pink photo corners, green gems here and there and popped up the bird and two flowers.

I then stamped the envelope and the inside of the card.  I'm pleased to report I convinced Jan with this card!

Dear Ruth,
you succeeded in doing a very fabulous card. The pink/black and green combination of colours looks really nice, the embossed black paper takes a very interesting effect. I like the way you present this little bird. It really looks three-dimensional. I believe your friend had been convinced.
Best wishes
Uschi
