Two Cards For Simply Stampin' Challenge # 59

OK, so I made a card for this week's Simply Stampin' colour challenge.

Not long after I'd finished the card my SU demo Joanne delivered my new goodies.  I knew I had to make a second card for the challenge using my brand spanking new stamps and dies!  I'd started making a Bakewell cake before Joanne arrived and hubby insisted I wasn't to open my bag of goodies until I'd baked the cake!  Alas, he knows only too well how easily distracted I am LOL!

I'll be honest, I wasn't too keen when I read the colour combo, I thought it was odd and that I wouldn't like it - well, I was wrong, I really, really like this combo!  I thought making a shaped card with my new Labels Framelits dies would be perfect for using the different colours.  I die cut two of the largest labels from Island Indigo CS to use as my card base - I scored a line down the label at the back, glued the two shapes together and cut a tad off the bottom of the labels so that the card would stand up for display.  I die cut Real Red, Regal Rose and Whisper White labels and stamped the sentiment on the white label.  I stamped the flowers on watercolour paper using Basic Gray ink as that's waterproof, coloured the images with inks and a water brush and then got fussy cutting.  I stamped the large flower spray twice and cut out the three flowers separately and popped them up.  I fell in love with the Bordering on Romance set when I saw it appearing on various blogs and I was so happy to see it in the UK Summer Mini catty, it is such a pretty set!

I stamped the line of flowers border stamp inside the card and stamped and coloured the sprig on the envelope flap.  The largest Labels Framelits die shape is a tad too big to fit in a regular rectangular C6 size envelope but this card fits nicely in a 14cms square envelope.

So here is the first card I made for the challenge, it measures 13cms square.  I've inked up two of my favourite sets - Sweetheart and Posy Punch, I love how they work so well together.  I attached the smaller punched circles to the flower centres with rhinestone brads and popped the flowers up.  I couldn't resist adding rhinestones to the dots around the flowers!  The sentiment is from the Precious Butterflies set and I added a Regal Rose punched border and some Real Red ribbon.

I may add a sentiment inside the card at a later date but for now I've stamped and punched 3 flowers.  I also added a flower to the envelope flap.  This colour combo did strike me as strange initially but it really grew on me - I've since made a third card using it and surprise, surprise, it also has a flower on it!

Go on, give this striking colour combo a try, join in our Simply Stampin' challenge this week!  You can substitute colours if you don't have the exact SU! colours we've asked for, the important thing is to enter and have fun!
