I've had circle, square and rectangle Nesties for ages but have only just felt the need for ovals. I thought I'd be happiest with the petite ovals and my very kind friend Jan let me borrow hers for a while so I could try them out. I'm now the owner of some petite ovals of my own - and I couldn't resist the fancy Labels Ten shape for layering my plain ovals on!
I made this thank you card for Jan using the largest Labels Ten shape die and Not Quite Navy, Crumb Cake and Very Vanilla CS. I cut two shapes, cut a bit off the bottom of the shape at the back so the card stands up, scored a line on the back shape and then glued the front and back shapes together to form the card. I used my plain oval Nesties for the layering. The gorgeous patterned paper is from the SU! Blueberry Crisp pack. I used the SU! Flower Accent individual stamp and the small flower from the Vintage Vogue set. I inked the Flower Accent stamp in Not Quite Navy and stamped off once. I then inked the Fine Flourish stamp in Not Quite Navy and kissed that to the flower stamp. I've added some dimension and shaping to the flowers and I added Vintage brads to each centre. The Crumb Cake panel is popped up.
Of course, I had to decorate the envelope and the inside of the card too. I just adore the beautiful flourish stamp in the Vintage Vogue set. All the stamping was done after stamping off once first.
There's a funny story about the inside of this card. Because I'd put a score line inside to form the card, I cut the top off my first vanilla oval because I thought it would match the top of the inside and look better that way. I went to glue it down and then something struck me. I went downstairs to show hubby and asked "what does this remind you of?". He immediately replied "a loo seat!" Yep, with the top of the vanilla oval cut off, the inside of the card definitely resembled a toilet seat! So I cut a second vanilla oval and left it intact!
